Lucy Plummer

Lucy is a Youth practitioner, scholar, advocate and consultant possessing over 14 years of experience working with and for young people and with organisations implementing youth engagement processes. Her area of interest is young people's engagement in social and environmental issues and UN Affairs. Lucy has a master’s in Sustainable Development and during her studies explored the diverse ways in which young people engage in sustainable development. Lucy's dissertation explored the participatory experiences of young people engaged in UN processes, specifically in the context of environmental and climate policy- and decision-making.

Lucy’s interests include Youth political participation, Youth Leadership, Youth grassroots activism,  faith-inspired activism, and intersections of social and environmental justice. 

Lucy joined the Centre for Applied Buddhism in 2021 as a Research Fellow and organised a panel discussion on the topic of Youth Leadership for Climate Action as part of the centre’s series of events in Glasgow for COP26. In 2023, Lucy became a Coordinator for the centre and supports communications, social media and event planning. Lucy is also a Youth Engagement Consultant for the Soka Gakkai International Office for UN Affairs.
